For the seventh consecutive year students from 11th and 12th grade were awarded with the “Luka Bekiarov” scholarships for their exceptional achievements in the field of mathematics and information technologies.
The scholarship has been established to honor the memory of Luka Bekiarov (1978-2013), whose erudition, intellect and leadership qualities have set an example for future generations. With this initiative people who knew him and were part of his life can not only remember his talent but also his humanity.
The prestigious awards were presented at a solemn ceremony held on the 21st of November 2019 at “Seasons” gallery in Sofia. The event was organized by Bekiarovi family in partnership with “Eurofootball” Ltd. and the kind support of “Science and Tehnology” foundation and BCause Foundation.
This year’s prize pool was spread among five students and a tutor. For the first time “Luka Bekiarov” scholarship was granted to a mathematics teacher..
Five of the scholarships are granted by Bekiarovi family, the other is presented by "Eurofootball". The winners this year are:
- Scholarship “Luka Bekiarov” – 3000 BGN to Evgeni Kairiakov, High-school of mathematics “Paisii Hilendarski” Sofia;
- Incentive scholarship – 2000 BGN to Dimitar Chakarov, High-school of mathematics “acad. K. Popov”, Plovdiv;
- Incentive scholarship – 1000 BGN to David Kamenov, PMPG “st. Kliment Ohridski”, Montana;
- Incentive scholarship – 1000 BGN to Yordan Cvetkov, High-school of mathematics “acad. K. Popov”, Plovdiv;
- Tutor’s Scholarship – 3000 BGN to Iliana Cvetkova, teacher in High-school of mathematics “Paisii Hilendarski” Sofia;
- Student’s scholarship awarded by “Eurofootball” – 2500 BGN to Aikut Ismailov, Technical University Sofia;
The scholarships were presented personally by Mr. Boris Bekiarov, an associate in “Decart” Ltd. and one of the founders of “Eurofootball”. He shared with the guests at the ceremony that the choice of the winners this year has been really tough as all candidates are “scientist” in their essence with many great achievements, articles in international magazines and prizes from scientific contest from around the world.
